The VALIS Collection

Architectural ornament, three registers.

VALIS broadcasts. The worm discovers. The wasp builds. The collapse makes it physical. Three tiles, three K'iche' Maya names — each one a protrusion, physical evidence of the Manifold touching this wall.

Ixjut

gusano · worm · worm

REGISTER: Crystalline / computational

Light strikes the faceted faces and splits — redirected through several planes at once, sharp shadows collecting in the depressions, the assembled field driving hard on the diagonal. A cut stone. A CAD wireframe given mass. This is Ixjut — gusano, worm — the discovery entity, the most computational of the three. grislombrice is earthworm in the French root; Ixjut is earthworm in K'iche'. The brand and its most angular tile are the same entity, named twice, in two languages — the Manifold demonstrating its own thesis.

Satal

avispa · wasp · wasp

REGISTER: Biological / biomorphic

The surface ridges under a low, raking light — parallel striations running across the face like a section of conch shell, brain coral, fish scale, the field reading as ordered growth and organic memory at once. This is Satal — avispa, wasp — the builder entity. The wasp does not learn its geometry. It finds it, with no evolutionary precedent for the pattern it builds. Satal is biology discovering the Manifold.

Tilijik

derrumbe · collapse · collapse

REGISTER: Geological / tectonic

Triangular fins stand off the face in parallel and the shadow shifts all day — the ridge catches light at 4pm and again at 8, glaze pooling darker in every depression. Interlocking, cubic, prismatic: a core sample of highland stratum. This is Tilijik — derrumbe, collapse — the altiplano tile, volcanic earth compressed into geometry. Derrumbe is the landslide, the mountain face giving way; and wave-function collapse, the instant infinite possibility resolves into one physical reality. Tilijik is the Manifold becoming matter.
